A high current surge generator is a device used to heat sintered samples in a powder sintering press.

A special feature of this power supply is the relatively high average power that can be supplied to the sample. The principle of operation of a high current surge power supply is based on the controlled charging of a capacitor bank built into the power supply, followed by the rapid (avalanche) release of the electrical energy stored in the bank in the form of a current surge. 
 

The control section contains all measurement systems, an industrial controller managing the charging and firing processes, as well as having control and safety functions, power supply systems, and power components.

Above the battery in the upper rear part is a discharge system built on an ignitron and impulse shaping elements.
