ELBIT has developed a modernized attachment for the Philips SEM 525M scanning electron microscope, called EDAX.

The modernized system includes:

a detector;

a chemical analyzer with a PC and "ISA" software;

a set of cables.

During the modernization, we made no modifications to either the detector itself or the preamplifier built into it. The signal from the detector enters the upgraded analyzer box via three cables.

The entire processing operation takes place inside this module. A PC board with software is also installed in the box, allowing for the analysis of the measurements taken. During the modernization work, it was decided to retain four original electronic boards (the "185" amplifiers, the "ADCA" and "ADCD" converters, and the "MCA" memory board). The remaining blocks were either made or replaced with modern electronics and software.

The software for operating the upgraded chemical analyzer in its basic version looks as follows: from the command bar, one can quickly call up a number of commands related to the data and enable the setting of measurement parameters. The measured data can be freely saved and read from the computer's hard drive.
