ELBIT has developed a prototype system for monitoring road conditions with regard to icing.

The following measuring equipment has been installed at each measuring point:

CZU2HT temperature, humidity and dew point sensor;
GPRS radio modem module;
industrial power supply;
galvanic isolation and ESD protection module.
Signals from the measuring points were fed to a server with software enabling the visualisation of results and informing the dispatcher about the possible occurrence of icing on the monitored road section.

The system is fully scalable, i.e. it is possible to add new measuring points that measure temperature, humidity, dew point, count passing vehicles or send images from a digital camera.
