Device data sheet in PDF format
The station is used to conduct experiments related to cavitation, turbulent flow, and jet pumping. The station consists of a thermally insulated 70-liter water tank, a high-flow water pump, and interchangeable components for studying these phenomena. The main tank is equipped with two ball valves – one for draining and one for filling – each with a 13mm hose connection.
Additionally, an identical valve is installed in the upper cover, serving as a vent during filling and draining of water. A water gauge is placed on the front wall of the tank to check the filling status.
The water level sensor is located on the right wall at a height of approximately 26 cm from the bottom of the chamber, which corresponds to a filling of 46 liters and is also the minimum level at which the pump can be safely operated. Below this filling level, the water pump will not turn on, as there is a risk of sucking in too much air and damaging the pump. The heater installed in the right wall, with a power of 2000W, has a bimetallic overheat protection and a built-in thermostat and operation indicator.
Under normal conditions, the thermostat should be turned to its maximum position to the right, as the temperature control function is taken over by the controller. The tank is made of 4mm stainless steel sheet. The entire tank is insulated with a two-centimeter layer of polyurethane foam with a thermal screen. All supply and discharge pipes are also covered with thermal insulation. For obvious reasons, devices mounted above the countertop do not have this insulation.
The hydraulic system is made of acid-resistant pipes with diameters of 60mm and 50mm.
