Device data sheet in PDF format

The photo-optical target, which is part of the entire shooting assessment system, is used to measure and calculate characteristic indicators of the accuracy, concentration, dispersion and rate of fire of the tested cannon or gun.

The target frame has many built-in horizontal and vertical photo-optical barriers. A projectile flying through the shield interrupts one or more vertical and horizontal lines, which is detected by the receiving photocells of the shield frame. The status of all lines, both X (horizontal) and Y (vertical), is read cyclically every 45 ms by the controller system.

After detecting an event involving the interruption of light lines simultaneously in the X and Y axes, the controller calculates the coordinates of the centre of the projectile's passage (with an accuracy of 1/2 of the distance between the light lines), the diameter of the projectile, and records the time at which the lines were crossed. The record with the above data is transmitted via a digital link (RS422) to a PC running the TARCZA.EXE programme.

Shooting evaluation system

Basic parameters of the manufactured photo-optical target:

  • accuracy of determining the coordinates of the bullet's passage: 3.5mm
  • maximum rate of fire: 22.22 shots/s
  • caliber of measured bullets*: 7.62 - 60
  • dimensions of the active window*: 1337x1785mm
  • operating temperature: -20 to 70°C

* We are able to design targets for bullets from caliber 5mm and with other dimensional specifications

Program for assessing shots and controlling photo-optical targets

This software records incoming data, filters (eliminates) data for calibers smaller than set and larger than 60mm, performs calculations of basic accuracy, dispersion, and rate of fire indicators, and draws a virtual image of the target with marked bullet holes. The program also continuously calculates all basic accuracy, dispersion, rate of fire indicators, etc.

An example appearance of the program is shown below:
