The second version of the pneumatic switchgear was made as a plate type. The valve base consists of two brass plates. All necessary pneumatic connections were milled into the lower plate, while the upper plate contains connections to the valves and some of the output connections. This solution has radically reduced the dimensions of the control switchboard and lowered production costs. CAD software was used to design the plates for creating electronic connections in printed circuit boards, and software was developed to convert the resulting files into a form acceptable to a numerical milling machine. The entire process of designing the pneumatic system now takes about a few hours, and after another few hours, the designer receives the finished valve plate.

ELBIT designed, manufactured and commissioned a complete control system for pneumatic mining ventilation dams.

The pneumatic system is used for the correct, collision-free and safe control of two ventilation dams. The control system consists of two switchboards with pneumatic systems, two ventilation barriers with part of the pneumatic systems (limit switches, sirens, semaphores), limit switches in the track and manual control elements (buttons, manipulators).
 

After the first pressure is applied to the control systems, the gates should not move, regardless of their position (open, partially open, closed). To start the system, the manual button marked START must be pressed (located inside each distribution board).

At any time, the operation of the pneumatic system can be interrupted by pressing the STOP button (mounted on the enclosure of each distribution board). Pressing the button releases the pressure from the actuating systems, thus any movement of the gates should cease. A temporary loss of pressure also shuts down the system. Restarting the system occurs by pressing the START button. The system features optical and acoustic signaling.

• input pressure range: 0.4 to 1.2MPa
• operating temperature: 0 to 65°C
• position of the distribution board: vertical
• power supply method: wired (fi13 to fi16)
• outputs: wired (fi6)

The distribution boards are made of 3mm thick steel sheet. All valves are specially designed (brass) for mining.
