Device data sheet in PDF format
The stand is used to conduct experiments related to various types of heat pumps.
The device consists of a heat pump compressor and interchangeable sources. The setup uses an original compressor from the ground source heat pump of the French company Sofah. The entire setup is also constructed using the original casing of this pump. Modifications were made to the main part of the heat pump by adding four temperature sensors before and after the compressor and before and after the expansion valve, as well as two pressure sensors behind the compressor and behind the expansion valve. The results of all measurements are displayed on the main controller on the LCD panel and transmitted to the software application attached to the setup. This program was developed specifically for this setup. Its main purpose is to educationally illustrate the operation of heat pumps and to enable simple recording and measurement. The lower source consists of two elements: a ground exchanger simulator and an air exchanger. The ground exchanger simulator utilizes a large CWU tank with a spiral coil of 120 liters capacity, additionally equipped with a 1400W heater with a thermostat. If there is a need to conduct longer experiments or demonstrations, the heater should be turned on, and the thermostat set to a temperature of around 30 degrees Celsius to prevent the water in the exchangers from freezing. Heat exchange in this tank occurs through the spiral coil. Therefore, the water in the tank can be replaced at any time. For this purpose, there is a drain valve at the bottom of the tank. The main chamber of the tank is designed as an open system to the atmosphere. An overflow pipe is installed at the top of the tank, which also determines the maximum filling level of the tank. As an air exchanger, the original exchanger from LG is used, operating in air conditioning systems with a thermal power of about 6kW. This exchanger is mounted on the back wall of the heat pump and is equipped with a fan to force air circulation. This fan is activated by a switch located on the cable. The upper source consists of three independent exchangers: air, water (domestic hot water tank), and underfloor heating. An air exchanger was installed in the form of a channel air heater from Webasto, designed for heating vehicles or larger boats. This heater is equipped with an air blower that forces circulation. The blower is made on a radial motor powered by 24V DC. This motor has two speeds (two operating speeds). Only the higher speed is connected in the system. The blower is turned on by switching the switch located on the power supply cable. As the upper water source, the original CWU exchanger from Galmet with a spiral coil of 80 liters capacity was installed. This tank is also equipped with a heater with a thermostat with a total power of 2kW (not connected in the setup!). The third source is a small section of underfloor heating. It was made with original PEX pipes and fittings. The pipes were placed on foil and rigid polystyrene, just like underfloor heating installations are done. Switching sources occurs through the appropriate valve switching.
