The rapid release device was designed and manufactured on behalf of an external company. The design of the device was preceded by a review of similar devices used by companies conducting tests involving dropping specific weights from a desired height (e.g. burglary resistance tests).
An important feature of the device is the mechanical release of the suspended weight without initial velocity.
During the design work, calculations were made for two versions of the release device: up to 200 kg and up to 900 kg. The manufacture of the release devices was preceded by a prototype stage, during which the operation of the device was tested.
